In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at white smoke, VE Day tributes, Phil Buehler and camera storage.

  • The Associated Press is there as Cardinals Return to the Sistine Chapel and "white smoke" pours from the chapel chimney.
  • The Guardian's Photos of the Day mark VE Day tributes, Russian airstrikes in Ukraine and black smoke from the Vatican.
  • Artist and photographer Phil Buehler captured some of the worst-hit properties from this year’s Eaton fire in Altadena, Los Angeles and assembled them for this year’s Spring/Break art show showing in New York City until May 12. "I hope we learn from these images that climate change is real, and it will affect everyone. Rich, poor, Black or white, people just like you. It's not a hoax or a can to be kicked down the road," he says.
  • A Reddit poster who had no problems before owning six cameras wonders How to Store Cameras and gets lots of advice from camera bags to closed cupboards to locking tool cabinets. We've never disclosed our solution until now: a dresser drawer. The dresser, acquired at no cost, is filled with other things too big for our filing cabinets. No dust, easy access.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
