In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Royal Ascot, missile attacks, OpenWalls Spotlight Award, that new Sigma, anything "new" and Unicorns in the Oakland Coliseum.

  • Associated Press photographer Alberto Pezzali captured the crowd at Britain's Royal Ascot Race.
  • Reuters presents 30 photos of Iran's Missile Attacks on Israel. "Iran has so far fired nearly 400 ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones towards Israel, with about 35 missiles penetrating Israel's defensive shield, Israeli officials say."
  • The Guardian showcases winners of the OpenWalls Spotlight Award, which "show how migration shapes our culture -- and the power of ancient rituals."
  • Mike Johnston has a few thoughts about that New Sigma Lens.
  • Thom Hogan thinks we should all be asking How Is It Better? when a new product is announced. "We're sort of in one of those lulls the auto industry kept getting into: 'yes, we have new cars this year, but some of those are just new grills and a couple of other visible things that we think make it look snazzy.'"
  • So what happened to the Oakland Coliseum after the A's moved to a minor league park in Sacramento? Unicorns took over the place. The cricket team. And there are photos by Ron Gaun and Shaun Roy to prove it.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
