In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Kyiv, a nuclear explosion, Reuters, Coney Island, Harold's garden, Amanda Lopez, Oskar Barnack shortlist, Andras Zoltai and wedding photos.

  • The Associated Press documents Russia's Latest Large Missile and Drone Attack on Kyiv in photos.
  • In What a Nuclear Explosion Looks Like, revisits the 2003 collection of government photos published by photographer Michael Light in 100 Suns. Light collected the images from the archives of laboratories at Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore.
  • Reuters 21 Pictures of the Day today is a study in contrast.
  • Stephen Salmieri’s black-and-white images of Coney Island in another era are in an online exhibition from Joseph Bellows Gallery.
  • Visit Harold's Garden is a 6:27 video of Harold Davis's redesigned garden, the source of his light box images and still life compositions.
  • Suzanne Sease features Mr. Arrieta, the personal project in black-and-white of Amanda Lopez. "Mr. Arrieta was my roommate when I first moved to Los Angeles," Lopez explains. A friend mentioned she was looking for someone to look after her dad in Southern California, where Lopez had always wanted to move. "It was an unconventional arrangement, but exactly what I needed. Moving to L.A. allowed me to intern with legendary photographer Estevan Oriol and begin working with some of my favorite publications. But the greatest gift from this time in my life was gaining the gift of a grandpa."
  • Leica has announed its shortlist of 11 photographers for its Oskar Barnack Award.
  • In Flood Me, I'll Be Here, Sophie Wright interviews Andras Zoltai about his documentation of the Indian island of Majuli, where the climate catastrophe shapes the daily lives of everyone living there.
  • A Reddit poster is Upset About Our Wedding Photos and asks for "some feedback on our photos." Apart from the professional photographer bashing, analyses of the lighting situations and examples of more involved edits are illuminating.

We were a bit too careful in denying access to the bots yesterday so today we've been a bit more aggressive, trying to get back to normal usage patterns. Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
