In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, Reuter's week, immense icebergs, Japanese playgrounds, Democracy under siege, Sony's size fetish, a QR code and the Nomad Pentax.

  • The Associated Press presents its top Photos of the Week curated by photo editors Patrick Sison and Courtney Dittmar.
  • Reuters curates 20 of its own Photos of the Week from around the world.
  • Kate Mothes features A Pair of Immense Icebergs by Dennis Lehtonen. "A couple of weeks ago, Lehtonen and locals spotted an iceberg floating a few miles away, and even from the distance, he could tell it was large," she writes. "Days later, it—actually a pair—slid into Innaarsuit, dwarfing the fishing village’s modest wooden houses."
  • Jason Kottle presents The Surreality of Japanese Playgrounds at Night, images by Fujio Kito "lit up in captivating ways."
  • Michael Shaw discusses 13 Scenes of Democracy Under Siege.
  • Antonio G. Di Benedetto observes, Sony Is Still Stubborn About the Size of Its Cameras. He's dismayed Sony resorted to a fixed LCD to keep the body size about the same as the RX1 III.
  • A Reddit wedding photographer was asked to provide a QR Code for Wedding Guest Photo Uploads. It's simpler than it sounds.
  • Mike Johnston has introduced The Nomad Pentax, in which he loans a Pentax Monochrome to his readers. The pilot program already has its initial five slots filled. Each person agrees to pay shipping to the next and write up their experience.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
