In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Texas, Ukraine, the British Open, sharks and the macOS Sequoia picture.

  • In A Texas Town's Residents Stay Inside Associated Press photographer Jacquelyn Martin's photo essay documents immigrant fears to leave their homes, even for necessary medical care. "People here, who once moved regularly from the U.S. to Mexico to visit relatives or get cheap dental care, say they didn't realize his [Trump's] deportation campaign would focus on their neighbors," she writes.
  • Reuters presents Scenes From the Frontlines as "outnumbered Ukraine fights off Russian attacks."
  • Birdies, Beaches and Buggies features Guardian photographer Tom Jenkins's photos from the 153rd British Open Championship.
  • Rob Wood celebrates Shark Week with 17 Photos of Sharks. "We certainly are not saying you should go out and shoot these yourselves without a lot of experience, but sharks are a huge part of our natural diversity and deserve this spot in the photography pantheon," he writes.
  • A Reddit poster asks, How Did They Take the macOS Sequoia Picture?

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
