In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at a wet wedding, Reuters's day, Arles Photo Festival, shooting flowers and John Paul Caponigro.
- Associated Press photographer Aaron Favila framed Jade Rick Verdillo and Jamaica Aguilar kissing in the aisle on their Wedding Day. Typhoon Wipha had flooded the aisle but the couple "decided to push through, as all marriages have their challenges." Favila found the bidesmaids and other attendees met the challenge as well.
- Reuters shares 21 Pictures of the Day for today that you have to see to believe.
- Fiona Shields showcases her Arles Photo Festival Picks, starting with Japanese photographer Kikuji Kawada.
- Iza Korwel offers some advice on How to Take Incredible Photographs of Flowers. "Weather is going to be your worst enemy," she writes. "Sun and wind are two ingredients you need to be aware of at any moment."
- In Bits 'N' Pieces, Mike Johnston reports John Paul Caponigro lost 80 percent of his prints to mold, photojournalist Bill Pierce turned 90 and a couple more items of interest.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
