In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's day, the SFO Museum, the Tamron 50-400mm, the most desirable camera, image dates/times and a confrontation.
- The Associated Press showcases its Top Photos of the Day chosen by its photo editors.
- Daniela Xitlaly Sandoval visited and photographed The SFO Museum, the only museum inside an airport accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. An email will get you a private tour complete with a special pass granting access to exhibitions beyond TSA security.
- Thom Hogan reviews the Z mount version of the $1,300 Tamron 50-400mm f4.5-6.3. "It would be easy to nitpick, but I don’t think you want to do that at this price/quality point," he writes. "It would be difficult to find anything that comes close to matching what this Tamron can do at its price."
- The Most Desirable Camera on the Planet? wonders Mike Johnston. He suggests two: the Ricoh GR III and the Leica Q3.
- A Mac Power Users poster asks about Converting Images From Camera and Metadata on macOS. Dates and Times change in macOS, likely because the Finder is reading the file date creation metadata showing when a converted image file was created whereas photo apps read the Exif metadata showing when the image was taken.
- A Reddit poster Was Confronted While Taking a Photo Today at The Hague. It's worth considering, as one response pointed out, that the complaint may be a distraction setting up a theft (not of the camera).
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
