In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Yancey Richardson Gallery, quincaillerie, Lightroom mobile, photography fails and a Lensbaby Velvet 28 webinar.
- Mee-Lai Stone presents a gallery of images to celebrate 30 years of the Yancey Richardson Gallery. The images include Mitch Epstein's early color experiments and Ori Gersht smashing glass prints of famous paintings.
- Camille McOuat captures the quaint charm of seven of the French Quincaillerie (gift link) or hardware stores where the French go to fix household problems and tourists can enjoy an authentic French experience.
- Still Think Lightroom Is a Lightweight Compared to Classic? Derrick Story argues "things have changed over the years and the Cloud version, now just called Lightroom, has some serious chops."
- Jason Row explains Why You Should Embrace Your Photography Fails. "Analyze every mistake that you make and ask yourself whether that mistake has some creative merit," he suggests. "I think you will find that in many cases the answer will be yes."
- Lensbaby will host Lensbaby Velvet 28 -- Unexpected Creativity Unleashed, a free webinar with Jerri Jones, on Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. PST. Registration required. Working with a Velvet 28 lens for five years, Jones will show how it's "one of the most versatile and underrated creative tools out there, especially for landscape photographers."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
