In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, Reuter's week, wildlife's week, World Oceans winners, Chef Redbeard, comeback gear and Senate photographer job listing.
- The Associated Press showcases its top Photos of the Week curated by photo editor Patrick Sison.
- Reuters shares 20 of its Photos of the Week from around the world.
- Joanna Ruck presents images of the Week in Wildlife from all over the place.
- Winners of the UN World Oceans Day have been announced in four categories.
- Suzanne Sease features Chef Redbeard, the personal project of Luke Copping illustrating the private dining experience with Jeremy Vanantwerp. "The series uses both still photography and motion to show the experience from different angles," he explains. "I wasn’t interested in stylized food shots or polished plating. I wanted to photograph what happens: crisp edges as they come out of the pan, the way honey drips from a biscuit and ingredients being handled with purpose."
- In Five Products That Deserve a Comeback, Zach Sutton argues for the gear he misses. (Well, we sheepishly admit, we still use the old stuff we like.)
- The U.S. Senate is looking for a Photographer #508 to "document important and historic moments in the United States Senate for today and future generations." Pay ranges from $72,032 to $126,056 and hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (although astute political observers will note the Senate often votes later). The vacancy closes at 7 p.m. EST.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
