In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the U.S. Open, David Bailey, Lauren Grabelle, lighting and ISO for Raw files.
- The Associated Press showcases highlights from the early rounds of The U.S. Open.
- Mee-Lai Stone presents a few of David Bailey's Pin-Ups from his retrospective in Spain.
- Suzanne Sease features Tommy in His Iron Pony, the personal project of Lauren Grabelle. One of her images is now included in Ken Burn's Our America: A Photographic History.
- Zach Sutton explores How Lighting Affects Your Background. "By implementing the three principles of light that I've discussed before -- Intensity, Direction and Quality -- you can add elements to your images that help create a more cohesive image," he writes.
- In ISO Setting for Raw Files, Jim Kasson simplifies his explanation of ISO's effect. "I have likened the ISO dial to the little plastic steering wheel you stick to the dashboard so your 4 year old can play at driving," he writes. "It's not quite that bad, but you get the idea."
