In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Nigerian students, New York's immigration courts, wildlife, a Sword Fern frond, Pro-Res Zoom and the new TOP.
- The Associated Press presents photos showing the effects on students in a School in Nigeria that lost U.S. aid. "The Associated Press visited the region to document how U.S. funding cuts has resulted in up to 700 students and 20 teachers being let go by an essential school that benefitted from such support," writes Sunday Alamba, who also took the photos.
- Reuters goes inside The Nervous Halls of New York's Immigration Courts where ICE agents patrol to make their quota of detainments.
- Joanna Ruck showcases Week in Wildlife from around the world.
- Harold Davis photographs a Sword Fern Frond in black-and-white with s 135mm lens and an orange filter on a bellows as it begins to unfurl.
- In Pictures, Not Photos: What's Going on With the Pixel 10 Pro 'Pro-Res Zoom', John Scalzi presents before-and-after comparisons of AI-zoomed images and digitally-zoomed images. "You can't just 'enhance' your way to clarity," he writes.
- What Features Would You Like to See on a New TOP? Mike Johnston asks as he outlines the must-have features he's planning for the redesign. "Let me hear from you!" he writes.
