In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Super Typhoon Ragasa, San Francisco's lowrider parade, Nikon lens terminology and sunrise/sunset shots.
- Reuters documents how Hong Kong is dealing with Super Typhoon Ragasa, the world's most powerful tropical cyclone this year.
- The Guardian curates photos fro San Francisco's Lowrider Parade along Mission St. on Saturday. Lowriders came from across the United States and included women-led car clubs.
- Thom Hogan explains Nikon Lens Terminology, which are "are all just marketing giving names to a specific technical engineering aspect of a lens," he writes. He categorizes the poetry in three groups: coating, glass and focus terms.
- Jason Row has some suggestions for capturing Sunrise/Sunset Shots. "The problem is that it can be very difficult to scale down the natural beauty of a sunset into a single two dimensional image," he writes.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
