In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the U.N. General Assembly, sinkholes, fall foliage, Photoshop updates, moon photography and the New York Times.
- The Associated Press features images from the 80th U.N. General Assembly in New York amid protests against Trump's policies outside U.N. headquarters.
- The Guardian devotes a feature to Sinkholes, perhaps as a metaphor for the times.
- The Fall Foliage Map 2025 can be predictive with the big slider below it.
- Julieanne Kost covers Five Quiet Photoshop Updates she thinks might have been missed. They include Quiet mode, Selection Brush, Generative AI model picker, Curves, Send to Apps and Star tool enhancements:
- Dahlia Ambrose lists some resources for tips on Moon Photography. "Knowing the moon phases and a good understanding of controlling exposure in your camera can help you capture beautiful images of the moon," she writes.
- Mike Johnston wonders Is the New York Times Still the World's Greatest Photography Magazine? He's been recommending a subscription for years but wonders if he still should. As daily scourers of the rag ourselves, we often provide photo-related gift links to its articles here but we find it essential reading these days anyway. And fortunately so do many public libraries, which often offer remote access via temporary access codes. So the question isn't so much whether to subscribe but whether to read it. We make it easy to follow the photo features. Your library may make it easy to follow everything the Times is publishing.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
