As we write this it's dark on Wednesday evening. Our sunset shot earlier today is nearly monochrome, but that's what attracted us to it. Still, we're peeved. Mightily peeved.

Monochrome Sunset. Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max back camera at 15.7mm, f2.8, 1.16129 seconds and ISO 32 captured with Adobe Indigo. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.
We saw the scene wearing Polarizing sunglasses. And we tried to use those lenses (well, one of them) to capture what we saw. Using our iPhone 15 Pro Max. But even with the timer giving us 10 seconds to figure it out, we couldn't get the glasses to cover the 5x lens and reach the Shutter button on the phone.
So we ended up taking a straight shot with the bright idea that we could probably find a polarizing filter for Photoshop online.
Well, you can but.
Nothing quite worked like the YouTube videos. So we gave up. We resorted to our existing editing skills to bring back some highlights and increase the contrast. Which rendered the image you see.
So what are we peeved about?
Well, since you asked ... we've been studying the weather forecasts as the first front of the rainy season moved in. That's because we had an appointment on Monday to take our 1967 Alfa back to our mechanic across the bay to do a few things we've been waiting three months to have fixed.
Friday we called him to confirm the appointment the appointment but pointed out we haven't changed the windshield wipers since we bought the car in 1984. We never drive it in the rain, see. So we were on our way to O'Reilly's to get 13-inch blades in a hook mount but he told us it wasn't going to rain Monday and he'd take care of it for us. "Let's play it by ear," he suggested. He was backed up anyway and if it rains, it was fine to come the next day.
Sunday night the forecast was for rain Monday with clearing Tuesday and downpours on Wednesday. So we skipped Monday. It didn't rain.
We called Tuesday after the rain had abated to see if he was still backed up but by the time he returned our call, it was too late to go over there anyway. Wednesday, it drizzled in the morning and that was it.
So much for the first front of the rainy season.
Thursday was supposed to be clear and sunny but when we looked at the forecast after taking this photo, we saw a 10 percent chance of rain.
That's why we are peeved.
We'll see what the weather is like around 11 a.m. before we curse the gods again (it's been raining). But after waiting three months for an appointment, you'd think they'd show a little mercy.
