In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Middle East celebrations, Don McCullin at 90, Stefan Falke, Hamburger Eyes and soulful portraits.
- Reuters presents 22 photos of Celebrations in Gaza and Israel after a ceasefire was announced.
- The Guardian celebrates Don McCullin at 90. McCullin spent decades as a war photographere before "he retrained his lens on the Somerset countryside." As he turns 90, a new book, The Stillness of Life, catalogues those images.
- Suzanne Sease features Reflecting New York, a self-published book by Stefan Falke. Falke has published four books of her personal work, two with publishers and the latest two using Blurb.com. The latest "started with a series of photographs I took from my window, year in year out, of Hudson Yards with an overlaying reflection of clouds or sunsets -- or both -- in the window I shot through," he says.
- Jim Casper interviews Ray Potes talks about 25 years of Hamburger Eyes, the San Francisco zine. "The photos are always black and white, and the design is all about the pictures."
- Dahlia Ambrose curates 21 Soulful Portraits Shot Under Beautiful Light Using Creative Compositions to inspire even more.
