Friday Slide Show: They're Coming After Us Share This on LinkedIn   Tweet This   Forward This

24 October 2025

It figures, doesn't it? End of October, so the ghouls, goblins and (this year at least) the "federal agents"* are invading our peaceful neighborhoods to terrorize the law abiding begging for a little candy (and healthcare).

Kids, we don't recommend going trick-or-treating this year in an ICE officer costume. If you're inclined that way and want a more welcome costume, go as your local police. At least in the city of St. Francis, these are the people who will protect you from the ghouls, goblins and "federal agents."

Our district attorney has figured out a way to enforce any law those "federal agents" might break. She explained, "local law enforcement could review camera footage of beatings if they occur and try to identify the agent involved. Then, she said, she would ask a judge to sign a warrant for the agent's arrest and seek to prosecute the agent in court."

That should make this a much safer Halloween for San Franciscans than the president intended.

We're civic-minded enough that we took a stroll around the neighborhood to assess the hazards. Apart from a few snarling dogs taking their afternoon constitutional, we didn't see anything but ghouls and goblins to frighten our young citizens.

Of course, we were walking around in broad daylight (although it was a bit overcast now and then).

So to frighten up our body camera images, we dropped the exposure but raised the highlights back up. And then, for a finishing touch, we added a rather serious dark vignette.

It was fun to edit away from what we saw to something we imagined would be more frightful. We actually shivered a few times.

But the slide show moves quickly enough that you won't have time to be scared. Wish we could say the same for the "federal agents" Trump may infect (who really knows?) our peaceful neighborhood with.

It seems to us they would be more useful at Mar-a-Lago where, we hear, a convicted felon haunts the place.
