In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Halloween in Kyiv, ICE in Chicago, Assisted Culling, transport, common mistakes and Prunella Scales.
- Julia Demaree Nikhinson was there as Kyiv Unleashes Halloween a Week Early "with a costumed rave that packed a Kyiv concert hall with hundreds of revelers dressed as Pennywise, the Joker, Medusa and more," she writes.
- Reuters follows ICE in Chicago with scenes from the streets "where a wave of mass arrests have induced fear in immigrant communities and fanned protests." ICE targets 3,000 arrests a day nationwide but has only arrested 1,178 daily, NBC has reported.
- Julieanne Kost discusses Assisted Culling (Early Access) & Auto Stacking in Lightroom Classic in this eight-minute video:
- Jason Row discusses Transport as Travel Shots, which he finds a neglected aspect of travel photography. "From the marvels of modern engineering that fly us to our destination to the humble rickshaw taking us a few km to a photogenic location, transport is a rich subgenre of travel photography," he writes.
- The LensRentals staff has a few Quick Fixes for Common Photography Mistakes including blurry photos and dark or bright images.
- Americans knew her best as Sybil Fawlty of Fawlty Towers but Prunella Scales, who has died at 93, had a long career that Greg Whitmore covers in photos.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
