In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Border Wall, Typhoon Kalmaegi, the Vaillancourt Fountain and Nancy Pelosi.
- Daniel Ochoa de Olza documents The Border Wall separating the U.S. and Mexico.
- Reuters covers the Typhoon Kalmaegi Aftermath in the Philippines with 23 photos.
- The San Francisco Arts Commission voted 8-5 to temporarily dismantle the Vaillancourt Fountain after an "emergency" removal was called for by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. Restoration of the famous landmark by the bay was estimated at $29 million while disassembly and storage will cost $4.4 million. The fountain suffers from "corrosion of its internal steel to the asbestos and lead-based paint within the structure and the unconsolidated bay mud it stands on."
- The Associated Press presents a gallery of photos covering Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi's career. The first woman in the speaker's office has announced she will not seek re-election to the U.S. House, ending a 38-year run.
