In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at great Irish writers, Daesung Lee, the Echolens, preventing fungus and DxO discounts.
- British photographer Steve Pyke reflects on his portraits of great Irish writers in The Wild Old Wicked Gang. And they reflect on their work.
- In Nirvana, Magali Duzant presents the collaborative series of portraits Daesung Lee made with his mother. He had asked her if she planned to reincarnate. "Her answer, a quiet 'No,' was accompanied by the explanation that her life had been too hard to live again," she writes. "It was a profound moment for her son."
- Chris Gampat reviews the $150 Echolens camera with its Leica-inspired design, an 8-Mp sensor, WiFi and Xenon flash but no LCD. "In place of a screen on the back, there's a little screen with a shot counter on the bottom," he writes. "You get 54 shots with every digital roll of film that you shoot."
- A Reddit poster asks about Preventing Fungus after silica get did not help. The answer was a dry cabinet.
- DxO has begun offering up to 50 percent discounts on DxO PhotoLab ($299.99), PureRAW, Nik Collection ($139.99), PureRaw ($99.99), FilmPack ($129.99) and ViewPoint ($59.99), which will continue through Dec. 2. Use the code PhotoCorners at checkout for an additional five percent off.
