We've just archived Volume 14, Number 11 of Photo Corners on the Archive page with 16 Features, 5 commented News stories, 25 Editor's Notes (which included 135 items of interest) and our usual site note for a total of 47 stories.

The list includes 96 images in 14 of those stories, two stories with gear specification tables, two holidays and two obituaries.

That tally is almost identical to last year. But it's a far cry from five years ago when we published 70 stories including 23 News stories.

READERSHIP numbers were again obscured by the phenomenal assault on the site by non-reading bots. We have knocked it down a bit from its height last month so that it has fallen below what it was in September, the second highest month, but that ain't saying much. It's still 400 percent higher than it was in July and August, which themselves were elevated.

So cold hard numbers don't mean much again. But warm soft ones (relative ones, that is) still do.

Our top story was our matinee on Rosslyn Chapel followed by two Around The Horn columns and then another matinee A Harvest of Memories. The top five were rounded out by our look at the most recent DxO updates.

The second five began with a Horn and was followed by our obit for Sara Terry. That was followed by our coverage of Leica's new women grant, our Fall Back public service announcement and Datacolor's SpyderPro software update.

Bots would not have shown a similar interest. They download everything every time.

And once again, we have to thank Sonic for generously overlooking how much we've exceeded our bandwidth limit again. We're not alone, of course. This plague is something that plagues every Internet service provider and everyone who hosts a site. But we appreciate not being liable for phenomena out of our control.

THE OTHER PLAGUE we all seem subject to is The Sale. Black Friday was particularly aggravating to our In Box with Cyber Monday not far behind. For that matter, November itself was shameless.

We're tempted now and then to list the come-ons used in email subject lines. The Before, During and After pitches (they never really end but If You Missed It). Might make a nice email filter at least.

You'd think we were all employed as professional shoppers instead of whatever it is we do to bring home the bacon. And when you compare the paucity of current news stories to just five years ago, you really do have to wonder what all the fuss is about.
