In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Reuters' week, UNICEF Photo of the Year Awards, Christopher Anderson's political portraits, Richard Radstone, the power of scale and top rentals.

  • Reuters showcases The Week in Pictures from around the world in 15 photos.
  • Matt Fidler presents the UNICEF Photo of the Year Awards. First prize was won by Elise Blanchard, who documented the lives of girls and young women in Afghanistan. Second prize was won by Natalya Saprunova, who captured the how children in Mongolia are affected by air pollution. Third prize was awarded to Sourav Das, who documented childhood in Jharia, home to one of India's largest coal mines.
  • In Vanity Fair Photographer Behind Viral White House Portraits Defends His Work, Ariana Baio quotes Christopher Anderson, "Very close-up portraiture has been a fixture in a lot of my work over the years. Particularly, political portraits that I've done over the years. I like the idea of penetrating the theater of politics."
  • Suzanne Sease features Sidewalk Ghosts, the personal project of Richard Radstone. The project illustrates his belief that "when we pause long enough to look beyond what we first see, to listen closer and to feel a little deeper, we can better find the truths that connect us: to ourselves and to each other."
  • Rob Wood presents Light Stalking's November Photo Contest Winners on the theme "The Power of Scale."
  • Zach Sutton details Top Photography and Videography Rentals for 2025, including camera, lens and accessory rentals.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
