In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, the Kennedy Center, St. Mary's Pub, Tahoe display flickering and cropping.
- The Associated Press showcases its Photos of the Week curated by photo editor Leslie Mazoch.
- Jacquelyn Martin, Mark Schiefelbein and J. Scott Applewhite document Trump's Name Being Added to the Kennedy Center. Large blue tarps, security personnel and the National Guard were deployed.
- Kevin Kelleher and Emily Trinh photographed St. Mary's Pub, a 92-year-old institution in an old San Francisco neighborhood. "From an urban tale of a ghost behind the bar to the dynamic women who have steered it through its best years, old San Francisco is alive and well at this local watering hole," writes Nico Madrigal-Yankowski.
- Juli Clover reports macOS Tahoe Bug Causes Studio Display Flickering Issues. "It's not clear what is causing the issue, but given that multiple Studio Display owners are experiencing it, it's likely some kind of software issue that could be addressed with new Studio Display firmware rather than a hardware problem," she writes.
- A Reddit photographer who shot a wedding and cropped the photos in Lightroom has a Question About Cropping. "The problem comes now that they want to get some prints and the online print vendors they tried to use enforce a specific aspect ratio, i.e. 8x10 for printing that is causing some of the pictures to be cut off in ways that don't work," they write. Print size is not necessarily display dimensions, however. You can always mat a print to your preferred crop.
