In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Christmas celebrations, Sean Scheidt, light falloff and the gift of installation.
- The Associated Press shares its photos of Christmas Celebrations around the world.
- Suzanne Sease features Liturgy, the personal project of Sean Scheidt. "In this ongoing series, I explore how faith takes shape in communal life through the "public work" of Saint Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood -- through its people, its sacred objects and the rhythms of the church calendar," he says.
- Jim Kasson concocts an interesting test of Hasselblad XCD 35-100 Light Falloff. "I tested the XCD 35-100 for light falloff by making 4 images rotated 90 degrees in turn, and averaging them in Photoshop," he writes. "The subject was a white wall. The lens was focused at infinity. I developed the images in Lr with lens corrections turned off, converted them to monochrome, and reduced them in size so that I could show them on the Web."
- Joe Rosensteel suggests When You Give Tech Gifts, Also Give the Gift of Installation. "Remember that as a technology enthusiast, your gift giving is not the money you spend on the gift or physically wrapping and handing them a box, but in supporting them to actually enjoy their present instead of being frustrated by some of the technical hiccups," he writes.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
