Saturday matinees long ago let us escape from the ordinary world to the island of the Swiss Family Robinson or the mutinous decks of the Bounty. Why not, we thought, escape the usual fare here with Saturday matinees of our favorite photography films?
So we're pleased to present the 636th in our series of Saturday matinees today: Ten Photographers Give Advice to the Young.
This 5:43 video from Louisiana Channel may ring a bell if you've been watching our Saturday matinees. It includes advice from three photographers whose full videos we've featured in the past. (Just visit the matinee index, click on Full List and search for "advice" to find Nan Goldin, Paul Graham and Martin Parr.)
But this artful edit takes the best bites of those and mixes it with the advice of seven other photographers including Ishiuchi Miyako, Ulsy, Elina Brotherus, Stephen Shore, Barbara Kasten, Anton Corbijn and Collier Schorr.
If you think it's only for the young, we'll just point out that some things bear repeating.
