This postcard of 2500 Steiner Street in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco pretends to place us at the top of the world.

But actually we were in a hospital room at Kaiser San Francisco. And no, we don't wish you were there.

But looking out the window to the north, we spied this graceful old apartment building designed by Conrad Meussdorffer and built in 1927. You can barely see Alta Plaza Park to the left of it and the cypresses on the grounds of the hospital frame it to the right and the bottom.

But it was a dull image when we captured it with our iPhone 15 Pro Max using Adobe Indigo's 10x zoom feature (on a phone with an only 5x zoom lens).

So we brought it into Photoshop and Dehazed it to add a little life to the building that was the subject of the shot. And as we did, it took on the aspect of a postcard's saturated color.

We started from an unsaturated palette and ended up with printer's ink.

To complete the joke, we added some familiar text, gave it a Gaussian blur and called it a day.

But, come to think of it, we do wish you were here after all.
