In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at 2026, an unprocessed photo, night time photography and WinterFest 2025.
- The Associated Press covers New Year's Celebrations across the globe that have already kicked off. And the New York Times adds more images of New Year's 2026 Around the World (gift link).
- Maurycy's blog shows What an Unprocessed Photo Looks Like. "In the end, replicating human perception is hard and it's made harder when constrained to the limitations of display technology or printed images," he writes.
- Dahlia Ambrose has a few tips on Night Time Photography. "When capturing photos at night, we have to rely on artificial lights from the city or town -- this could be the lights from buildings, street lamps, shops, etc. or natural light from the moon if it is more than 50 or 60 percent illuminated," she writes.
- WinterFest 2025, the festival of artisanal software, is live now. Among the deal are Peakto ($15/month), Avalanche ($59), Find My Snap (free), Houdah Geo ($29.25) and ImageFramer Pro ($59.96), among a few other smart utilities.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
