Old Friends

On our quick excursion into the garden yesterday morning, we walked by some old wooden chair parts leaning against the fence. Why had we kept them? We must have once been sitting on them in the yard on some occasion with some friends. But we couldn't remember.

Should old acquaintance be forgot? we wondered and stopped to take a few photos.
We saved the chair parts because we thought they'd make excellent templates for more sturdy versions, perhaps in redwood. But we never acquired the tools to cut and drill the wood, so they just lean there like unemployed teens.
Yesterday, though, we thought of them as old friends.
It's a shallow enough scene there was no need to stop down to f11 other than the sharpness at that aperture. We were still at a hand-holdable 1/60 second, so we indulged.
Our editing session was limited to a conversion to black-and-white and manipulating the tones. We brought back the highlight detail and lifted the shadow detail. And gave it a little vignette.
Not much to it. But the weight of the memories we have forgotten of the good times those old friends made a little more comfortable for us.
