In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week, Reuters' week, wildlife's week, Richelle Ellis, your own retrospective and negative film strips.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Top Photos of the Week curated by photo editor Anita Baca.
  • Reuters presents 22 Photos of the Week from around the world.
  • Pejman Faratin marks the Week in Wildlife with photos of a hitchhiking crab, a shy wallaby and penguins in little jackets, among others.
  • Kate Mothes reviews Inploration: Art Exploring Space to Understand Earth. "The volume is the result of years of work by Richelle Ellis, an artist, author and founder of the curatorial platforms Inploration and Supercollider, who has spent the past decade investigating what she describes as 'the intersection of art and aerospace,'" she writes. "She's drawn to the way our questioning of the universe can revive a sense of wonder for our planet and prompt us to consider how we value and care for it."
  • Mike Johnston wonders if anyone could put their hands on Your 60 Best Pictures. He'd have trouble himself, he admits, but is inspired by Bruch Davidson's Portraits.
  • A Reddit poster who has inherited a trove of childhood negatives asks, How to View Negative Film Strips? Not a simple question. Black and white is easier than color and using a phone can be a challenge, although using a scanner isn't always easier. We used Indigo's AI Playground with a custom prompt and prefer it to the recommended iOS app, Film Scanner Pro.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
