In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Burning Man, Nepal, the Benro MiniMax monopod and the Digital Age.
- Ashley Harrell reports from Burning Man as rain and heavy wind sweep through Black Rock City in Nevada.
- Niranjan Shrestha writes about capturing A Moment of Hope in a devastated Nepal. "It was the first time that day I encountered a survivor being rescued alive," he writes. "After witnessing the immense destruction and the suffering all around me, seeing someone pulled from the disaster alive felt like a powerful reminder of hope."
- Feroz Khan reviews the $120 Benro MiniMax Monopod. "Collapsing to just over a foot (at around 14.5 inches) and weighing just 0.8 lb., the Benro MiniMax definitely doesn't look like a pro product at first glance," he writes. "But try it once and you definitely won't find yourself heading out without it if you have long lenses accompanying you."
- Mike Johnston lists The Two Things I Dislike Most About the Digital Age. The first mourns products like WriteNow and Aperture. The second complains about reverting to the moment before you made a catastrophic mistake on something you're working on.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
