Leica has announced its APO-Macro-Elmarit 100mm f2.8, an L-Mount macro lens that pays homage to the R-mount lens of 1987. The new version combines 1:1 macro capabilities with a portrait-ready telephoto focal length of 100mm.

The macro lens can focus as close as 11.4 inches, maintaining a respectable distance from skittish subjects like insects. And for portraits, its f2.8 aperture and nine-blade diaphragm produce a pleasing bokeh.

- 1:1 magnification
