We were invited to dinner at a friend's house when a mutual friend from Reno came to visit over Labor Day weekend.

We've been to dinner there before and when we visit a place, we take note of the things hung on the walls. Many people don't put anything on their walls, especially if they've just painted. Others plaster the walls with their favorite photos and posters and even paintings.

This particular friend had a black-and-white photo of herself and her three siblings as young adults prominently displayed in her living room. I'd seen it a number of times and tried to figure out which one she was because quite a few years had passed.

But this time, I thought I'd take a photo of it with the iPhone using Indigo. And I'd surprise her by converting it into a color image and texting it to her.

Indigo has a monochrome conversion style but not a color conversion option. But, as we've pointed out, you can ask it to do things it doesn't offer to do. So we prompted it to colorize the monochrome image.

And it did.

One of the sisters was wearing John Lennon glasses and wearing Army surplus clothes and Indigo got the color of her shirt base on the U.S. Army tag. We asked if the hair colors were right and got a thumbs up.*

But why stop there?

We converted the color image into a watercolor for her and texted that along with the color conversion.

Party tricks. But fun. And appreciated.
