In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at an Iranian school, Tristram Kenton on Richard Alston, mushrooms and Siddharth Behl.

  • Vahid Salemi photographed what remains of An Iranian School where some 120 children died in a U.S. strike.
  • Poetry in Motion is a selection of photographs by the Guardian's Tristram Kenton that celebrates the life of British choreographer Richard Alston, who has died at 77.
  • Grace Ebert reviews Fungi: The World of Mushrooms, "an expansive tome gathering more than 200 photographs, artworks, historical objects and more all devoted to the vast diversity and creative potential of mycology."
  • In How a National Geographic Explorer Shoots the Himalayas, Nilofer Khan talks to Siddharth Behl, an Indian photographer and National Geographic Explorer, about his choice of gear. "Ultimately, my choices are guided by a balance of image quality, weight, reliability and the practical needs of the stories I am photographing," Behl says.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
