In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Emmy Awards, Jo Ann Chaus, terms in color photograph, women photographers, iOS 27 and Golden Gate.

  • Reuters covers the Emmy Awards with 21 photos of the event, plus another 72 from the Emmys Blue Carpet.
  • In Through the Looking Glass, Mee-Lai Stong presents the self-portraits of Jo Ann Chaus, who takes women of the 1950s as her role models to express both strength and vulnerability.
  • Jim Kasson tackles Technical and Casual Terms in Color Photography after reading a thread on raw files and whether they specify color. "The main point is that digital color reproduction is chock-full of terms that are used in specialized and quantitative ways: color, colorfulness, saturation, hue, lightness, value, gamut, etc.," he writes.
  • A Reddit poster asks Your Favorite Women Photographers? and gets over 90 responses.
  • Apple details the changes in iOS 27, including the inclusion of Visual Intelligence in the Camera app "letting you ask questions and take action with what's in front of you, like splitting a bill or looking up nutritional info for a plate of food" and Apple Intelligence in Photos, adding Spatial Reframing, an Expand tool and Clean Up.
  • In Finding Your Feet in Golden Gate, Howard Oakley writes, "These brief notes are intended to guide those who are pondering whether to upgrade to Golden Gate, or have just done so."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
