In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Mono Photography Awards, an angel, Hogan on recent developments and a college football game.
- The Guardian presents the category winners of the Mono Photography Awards chosen from more than 3,000 black-and-white entries from Australia, New Zealand and around the world.
- Romania-based Associated Press photographer Vadim Ghirda writes about taking Images of Daily Life as a Unifying Force. He describes his photo of a child dressed as an angel, "I choose to see her as hope in a not very happy environment. After all, this is the role of angels."
- In Cameras and Lenses Appear (Or Not), Thom Hogan reflects on recent developments, including the OM System PEN, Pentax, new iPhones, Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitors and power thumbs.
- That Reddit poster who last week asked for advice about shooting a college football game returns with a Follow-Up After Shooting My First College Football Game. "Overall it was an awesome experience and something I'd like to do again!"
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
