BRIEFING

At the briefing we watched a demo by product manager and creator Diksha Kuhar.

She started with Premiere's templates, which are essentially empty cuts of specific durations to which you drag your video clips.

Premiere Mobile. The interface adapting to a foldable phone.

You can then edit the duration on any clip, set transition effects globally or for just one transition, edit the title and time its appearance and adjust audio, including adding a voice over with automatic ducking.

She showed how to export the finished piece directly to YouTube or save it on your phone.

While most of the demo showed the software in portrait mode on a traditional narrow smartphone, she also showed how the software smartly panes the video next to the timeline on a foldable phone.

The audio features were very impressive, beginning with her statement that she no longer carries a microphone on her shoots because Premiere's audio processing of the phone mic's capture is studio quality. But she also just had to adjust two sliders to duck the background noise to her voice over.

We were less impressed with the templates, although we note there are a lot of them to choose from. As just empty time slots you drop clips into, they seem to enforce a pace to the video regardless of the content.

But being able to apply one transition effect to what might be over 90 transitions was a welcome feature.

PRICE, AVAILABILITY

Premiere mobile on Android is available now in the Google Play Store for devices running Android 13 or later with a minimum of 5-GB of RAM.
