In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Cuba's ballet dancers, two decades in Iraq, BirdLife Australia Photography Awards, composing, the Panasonic L10 and provenance.
- Ramon Espinosa documents Cuba's Ballet Dancers persevering through blackouts and shortages.
- In 55 photos, Reuters preovides a visual retrospective of America's Two Decades in Iraq as U.S. forces prepare to pull out from their last bases today.
- The Guardian presents shortlisted images from the BirdLife Australia Photography Awards. Funds raised by the competition support bird conservation programs in Australia.
- Thom Hogan discusses the differences Composing "with those Rear LCD only cameras."
- Derrick Story tells the story of The Panasonic L10 in Action at My Son's Wedding. "I chose the L10 to cover this important event because of its great looks that went well with my formal attire, its Micro Four Thirds sensor with 20-megapixel of resolution, the Leica 24-75mm f1.7-2.8 zoom lens, the 2200 mAh lithium batter for all day endurance and the creative color profiles I could use to capture the mood I wanted," he writes.
- In Provenance Is Ready Is Anyone Buying?, Paul Melcher reports on the Bergen Provenance summit. "The yearly comparison gives some valuable insight into how the space evolves," he writes. "In twelve months, almost everything needed to create, sign and verify a Content Credential has moved from demonstration to product. What has barely moved is the other end of the chain, the platforms and publishers where images are actually seen. Bergen was a meeting of an industry ready to deliver, still waiting for someone to take delivery."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
