We've just archived Volume 15, Number 9 of Photo Corners on the Archive page with 10 Features, 13 commented News stories, 25 Editor's Notes (which included 131 items of interest), 5 reviews and 1 site note for a total of 54 stories.

Twenty-one of those stories included 122 images. We published eight stories with fear specification tables and marked one holiday.

For comparison, a year ago we published much the same fare but with fewer reviews.

READERSHIP NUMBERS were again skewed by increased bot traffic, which matched our June rate. So, yeah, we notched well over half a million unique site visitors last month but most of them don't sleep at night.

Our top 15 stories were an interesting mix, though. Bots do not skip anything but readers actually do. So we can get a sense of what matters to you after all.

We notched well over half a million unique site visitors last month but most of them don't sleep at night.

The top story was our coverage of the Nikon Z5IIIC followed (but not closely) by the OM System PEN announcement. Our piece on Stardust was third, one click behind. The Nikon tour news followed and our coverage of Adobe Elements came right after that.

We're not done with Elements. We've downloaded it for review later this month.

So where were all the Around The Horn columns? Well, four of the next five were Horns, interrupted only by a matinee on that Vermont pollinator.

We usually stop there but the next five didn't have a single Horn. Our Indigo AI Playground series was 11th, our Model A slide show 12th, the hummingbird matinee 13th, that Sony fisheye lens 14th and our PhotoLab review 15th.

We're not done with PhotoLab either.

IN FACT, we're not done at all even if Sonic is dropping its Web hosting service at the end of the year. We've been researching a new service and, frankly, it hasn't been easy.

We started just poking around and that didn't yield much. Just who was more aggressively hitting the market. You know what we mean? Those top Web hosting services of 2026. Right.

Next we tried AI. We listed our requirements to Gemini and Duck.ai and they came back with several options. We asked what it thought of a few we had considered more seriously and they cited fairly irrelevant factors. Which, in the end, discredited them.

Then we found a site that could tell us what other sites were using for hosting. This was very revealing. A lot of them are running on free Cloudflare or Amazon S3 sites.

That intrigued us but it won't work for Photo Corners because they don't support anything but plain CSS and HTML. We do use Perl and PHP (and JavaScript, which isn't the same issue) here, running CGI for things like our full text search.

We'd hoped to make the move in September but September has been one emergency after another. But you shouldn't notice the change. We'll run parallel systems until the new one proves itself, testing everything before switching over. You may notice the switch over, though, since that can take a few days.

But we will switch over. Because we're not done yet.
