Joyce's blood sugar and blood pressure were stable enough for her to return to Golden Heights this afternoon. I drove over, getting there just after she was put back in her bed.
Everything in the room had been "put away." So I spent an hour finding things and returning them to within her reach.
Her trekking pole had disappeared. Sheik the CNA found it with the extra wheelchairs as if it belonged to Golden Heights.
Nether of us could find her wheelchair with the air cushion to protect her wound. That's a bigger issue than it may seem (although it seems pretty big) because she has a debridement Tuesday. And she'll probably need it to get there and back. Especially back after the Lidocaine wears off.
But she was more worried that her remote control was missing.
And she didn't say anything about Sylvia, her roommate, being missing either.
She has a new roommate who does not have dementia and seems to have an attentive husband handling her phone calls for her. Nice people.
And she now has her phone with her, although Golden Heights couldn't provide a power strip to share an outlet with the new roommate. I ran an extension cord to a pretty funky outlet near another wall. So you can call or text her again now.
Part of returning to Golden Heights is getting a head-to-toe checkout by the nurses. Princess (who I think just returned from her wedding and honeymoon) took charge.
Joyce's blood sugar was 96, higher than the low 80s she was recording at the hospital. And her blood pressure was 128/70 at 61. All right on the mark.
No temperature either.
The dressing was a paper bandage without an Ace bandage but we'll get that straightened out tomorrow.
Tomorrow she has her 500-foot walk with Daisy, who I ran across as I was looking for Joyce's trekking pole. "Don't get mad, Mike!" she laughed when I threw up my arms.
That will be the first time Joyce has been out of bed, let along walking, since Wednesday.
