In this recurring column, we'll highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters).
You can point us to others we might have missed with the Feedback button below, too.
- Strobist David Hobby on the PocketWizard PlusX: "This is what I have wanted from PocketWizard for a long time: a sub-$100 remote."
- Derrick Story on the $199 Rode iXY Stereo Recording Microphone for iPhone/iPad: "As nice as the mic itself is, what pulls this package together is the Rode Rec app that maximizes the hardware's capabilities."
- The New York Times Lens Blog asks, "What does America look like to young people today?" To find out, it's "soliciting submissions from teenagers in high school photography classes and community programs, participants must either be enrolled in high school or be 14 to 18 years old. All submissions must be uploaded under the supervision of a photography class teacher or program instructor by the May 1 deadline."
- Kirk Tuck on Neil Van Niekerk's Direction and Quality of Light, a book on portrait lighting: "His camera gear is state of the art but the real state of the art is his approach to lighting portraits. This is a book I wish I had done."
More to come...
