In this recurring column, we'll highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at a SilverFast IT8 target discount, preorders for the Fujifilm X-M1, a Filmpack update for Lightroom 5 compatibility and GraphicConverter.
- Through July 31, SilverFast is offering a 20 per cent discount on all SilverFast IT8 targets and a 30 percent discount for a set of two. Discounts are also available for SilverFast's resolution target and a limited number of Kodachrome targets are still available, too. A code is required but it's apparently a "personal" one customers should have already received by email. We have one spare one.
- Adorama is accepting pre-orders for the just-announced $699.99 Fujifilm X-M1 body, the $449.95 XF 27mm (41mm) f2.8 R lens and the X-M1 with a XC 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OIS lens. Thom Hogan puts the entry-level mirrorless camera in perspective.
- DxO Labs has updated FilmPack to version 4.0.2 to "interact perfectly with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5."
- Lemkesoft has released its $39.95 GraphicConverter 8.7 [M] with Core Image filters in batch processing, optional PDF and EPS import without anti-aliasing, multi-copy, drag-and-drop in the browser to set keywords with text snippets, read/write of metadata in WebP format, improved Raw import with 16-bit channels and more.
