In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Metabones Speed Booster, Galaxy Gear, Instagram's Gotham filter and Wacom tablets.

  • Tom Grill reviews the Metabones Speed Booster Nikon-G-to-Fujifilm-X-mount adapter.
  • The Verge has a "wrist-on" review of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch with a 1.9-megapixel camera (with 720p video) and one-day battery life.
  • The blog Rands in Repose promises to "demonstrate my total lack of photographic experience by describing how Instagram's Gotham transformed a photo. I will explain how many subsequent Gotham clones failed. How a recent contender might finally allow me to sleep at night, and finally, why all this Gotham angst was worth it."
  • CNet reports Wacom has rebranded (and repriced) its lineup. The Intuos 5 is now the Intuos Pro and the Bamboo has grown up to be an Intuos, too (not Intuous 2). Low-end tablets are less expensive, high-end versions more and mid-level tablets the same in the repricing scheme.

More to come...
