In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at new features in Adobe Camera Raw 8.2, McNally's traveling strobes, Snap Art and free Android apps for photographers.

  • In Adobe Camera Raw 8.2 in Photoshop CC, Julieanne Kost demonstrates all the new features in ACR 8.2 in 15 minutes. Don't miss the new interactive histogram at the end.
  • Joe McNally reveals his traveling strobe setup (including the luggage) in Traveling With Light. A bit of blue tape identifies the gear that goes in the travel bag, which beats making a list and checking it twice.
  • Alien Skin has announced a November upgrade for its $99 Snap Art that will feature a redesigned user interface and improved speed to transform a photo into a handcrafted work of art simulating oil paint, pencil sketch, watercolor and crayon.
  • At Light Stalking, Ritesh Saini lists 10 Useful and Free Android Apps for Photographers including a light meter app and depth of field calculator.

More to come...
