Adobe On Mavericks Compatibility: 'No Major Issues' Share This on LinkedIn   Share This on Google   Tweet This   Forward This

22 October 2013

With the release of Mavericks today, Adobe has published OS Compatibility and FAQs for Mac OS Mavericks (v10.9). According to Adobe, "All Adobe CC and CS6 products are compatible, but a few products require updates to the latest builds to work properly. Adobe Photoshop CS5, CS4 and CS3 were also tested with Mac OS X Mavericks and there are currently no major issues known."

Adobe After Effects CC and CS6 requires an update and other Creative Cloud desktop applications may encounter an "incompatible software error." Flash Player may also have an issue and Safari 7 may try to block your first attempt to read a PDF.

Adobe doesn't specifically mention either Photoshop or Lightroom in the FAQ. But in a Lightroom Forums post, Lightroom queen Victoria Bampton wrote:

I've left it [Mavericks] downloading overnight, so I'll install in the morning. LR 5.2 should work OK. Earlier versions may have some UI issues.

Reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud, the application manager, eliminates any complaint by Mavericks that it's an incompatible application.

For more information, see the FAQ.

I'm trying to use CS4 on Mavericks and the droplets do not work. Just wondering if you know anything about this or have any workarounds?

Many thanks, much appreciated.

The problem with the CS4 droplets is that they use PowerPC code, not Intel code. With v12.01 of Photoshop, the droplets started using Intel code. See Adobe's Droplets don't work help page for details. -- Mike
