PHD3 Panhead. Ballhead-like panhead.

Induro's new PHD3 Mult-Axis Panhead combines "the convenience and speed of a ballhead with the precise control of a panhead," the company said in announcing the $385 tripod topper that includes a matching Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate.

A locking knob controls 360-degree rotation on a panning base that features a laser-engraved, graduated scale while the top mounted quick-release system can be rotated 90 degrees. A double safety lock on the quick release clamp permits lateral adjustment while providing a safer and more secure gear change.

The PHD3 Panhead also includes bubble levels to maintain horizontal alignment.

Third party accessories can extend the capabilities to advanced panoramic and stereoscopic photography, the company said.

Brian Hynes, Induro's product marketing manager, added, "Now photographers who prefer the one handed operation offered by most ballheads can also have precise multi-axis camera positioning."
