In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Epson Mavericks support, Saul Leiter, Sami Sagolj's photojournalism rules and photo evidence of the JFK assassination.
- Epson has released OS X Mavericks scanner support for a number of scanners and all-in-ones, including the V700/750.
- In At 89, a Pioneering Street Photographer Finally Gets His Due, photographer Saul Leiter's pioneering use of color is applauded on the release of the film In No Great Hurry: 13 Lessons in Life With Saul Leiter.
- Reuters photographer Damir Sagolj details Seven Golden Photojournalism Rules, illustrated with his own work. The short version: Anticipate, Research, Reach Out, Prioritize, Practice, Interact and Be Invisible.
- In a film by Errol Morris, Josiah (Tink) Thompson discusses the photographic evidence of JFK's assassination, including silent 8mm film and Polaroids. If Thompson leaves the subject a little short for you, Nova's broadcast Cold Case JFK applyies "state-of-the-art forensics" to the mystery.
