In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at 4K displays, 2014 industry projections, David Alan Jay and Romain Laurent.

  • Macintouch has an interesting commentary by Lyman Taylor on 4K displays with links to even more resources. We were amused to see this appreciation of them on Slashdot, though.
  • Trends Fore and Aft details Thom Hogan's 2014 industry projections. "Still," he writes, "virtually none of what I'm projecting to see in 2014 really gets to the core problem of the camera makers: what is it that could re-ignite buying to the point where cameras are once again a growth market?"
  • Mike Johnston remembers David Alan Jay, his predecessor at Photo Techniques, with an amusing story about how Jay survived the Photo East show.
  • Photographer Romain Laurent animates his portraits with more than a little humor.

More to come...
