In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at the camera business, new Epson papers, vintage cameras and a SilverFast update.
- Michael Reichmann's Nobody Knows Anything (present company excluded apparently) asks, "So when we look at major corporations and see them launch flawed products, produce devices that the marketplace will reject and ignore developing trends that even unsophisticated members of the general public are aware of, why should we be surprised?"
- In Epson Unveils New Metallic Photo Papers at WPPI, Dan Havlik describes Epson's new Metallic Photo Paper Luster and Metallic Photo Paper Glossy as "aimed at wedding photographers, portrait photographers and event photographers."
- In An Online Vault of the most Awesome Cameras Ever Made you can see Sylvain Halgand's collection of vintage (and unusual) cameras. Almost said "retro" there.
- LaserSoft Imaging has released SilverFast 8.0.1r41 with support for the Epson Perfection V550 and direct uploads to Dropbox similar to its Flickr and Facebook uploads, which don't store the scan on your hard drive. User interface improvements are also in the mix.
