In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at Terry White shows what's new in today's Creative Cloud update, Cicala tests the 85mm Otus, Strobist David Hobby shows the many moods of a block of concrete and Harold Davis brackets ISO and aperture to capture garden fountains.
- Adobe evangelist Terry White show you What's New In the October 2014 Update to Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC & Muse CC in a series of videos.
- Speaking of Zeiss Otus lenses (as Saturday's matinee did), Roger Cicala tests an 85mm in Quick Zeiss 85mm Otus MTF Charts, noting "the Otus is every bit as good as it's supposed to be and the best 85mm f1.4 lens we've tested."
- "I've long kept a picture file of versatile nearby locations for photographing people," David Hobby begins On Assignment: Ben Lurye, which shows the many moods of an otherwise neutral foot bridge abutment.
- In Ghosts in the Enchanted Garden, Harold Davis goes turbo on bracketing, changing ISO and apertures "to provide long exposures and a smooth effect on the water in the fountains, the other intended to capture the water as it sprayed crisply." You get both ribbons of slow-motion water and sharp droplets in one image.
