In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at ways to display your images without frames, Apple's Yosemite release, an error code database for Photoshop and a good Canon starter kit.

  • Photojojo! has published DIY No Frame Photo Display Ideas, four clever ways to frame your prints with things you can probably find around the house.
  • At Apple's special event this morning in Cupertino, the company announced Yosemite is available today on the Mac App Store free of charge. As always, we caution you to confirm your drivers and specialty software is compatible before updating. iOS 8.1 is expected Monday.
  • Mylenium's Error Code Database covers a number of Photoshop issues including Configuration, Color & Display Issues, Usage, Video Processing & Rendering, Scanning & Printing and Errors & Warnings.
  • Thomas Hawks has a Intro to dSLR Photography post sponsored by Canon that suggests a good starter dSLR kit. "If you are starting out with digital photography, you need something that is solid and good enough to take awesome photos, without investing $10,000 into your new hobby. This is why I suggest the EOS 70D and EF-S 18-135mm STM lens as an entry point for people starting out."
