In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention (with more than 140 characters). This time we look at an Adobe Voice contest, dealing with photographer's block, lighting a portrait like a painting and a free ebook on moving to mirrorless.
- Adobe Voice has launched a Voice contest giving $5,000 to the winner and another $5,000 to the non-profit or educational institution of their choice, plus some 30 $50 gift cards. Just "voice" what you're grateful for before Dec. 9.
- In Photographer's Blocks, Alain Briot acknowledges, "The last thing you need is wreak your brain trying to figure out how to be creative again." So he wreaks his for you with a list of solutions.
- Strobist David Hobby is On Assignment: Lighting Like Leo, lighting a portrait by Drew Gardner that recreates the Mona Lisa. Posture, ladies, posture.
- Portland-based photographer Brian Matiash is giving away his 88-page ebook Moving to Mirrorless (that's a link to the direct download) on moving from his dSLR (Canon) to a mirrorless system (Sony). "I firmly believe," he concludes, "that mirrorless camera technology is here to stay and will only get better and more robust."
More to come...
